Yes. Car Hire Excess cover is available as an optional add-on to most travel insurance policies, with the exception of Outbacker and CoverForYou Backpacker policies.
The Car Hire Excess cover provided depends on the travel policy's area of cover:
Europe | Car Hire Excess – Europe |
Worldwide excluding USA & Canada (WWE) | Car Hire Excess – Worldwide, without CDW or SLI |
Worldwide including USA & Canada (WWI) | Car Hire Excess – Worldwide, including CDW and SLI |
If you change your travel policy's area of cover after purchasing the Car Hire Excess add-on, the Car Hire Excess cover will automatically change to match the new area of cover.
For Single Trip travel policies, the Car Hire Excess add-on must be purchased before the travel policy starts. The Car Hire Excess cover will have the same start and end dates as the travel policy.
If you want to purchase Car Hire Excess cover after your travel policy has started, you can purchase a separate standalone Car Hire Excess policy, provided it is purchased before your car rental starts.
The Car Hire Excess add-on covers all insured adults aged 21 or over on the travel policy. For Single Trip policies, the cover allows one rental vehicle at a time.
