Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI) provides additional third-party liability cover if you are legally responsible for injuring someone or damaging third-party property while driving a rental vehicle.
What does it cover? | Legal costs and compensation you are legally liable to pay following an accident involving injury to another person or damage to third-party property. |
Where does it apply? | USA, Canada, Caribbean, Mexico, Central America and South America. |
How does it work? | SLI provides additional cover on top of any other applicable insurance, such as the rental company's liability cover. |
Maximum cover | Up to US$100,000 per accident (or the local currency equivalent), less any applicable amount paid by other insurance. |
Who can buy it? | Available as an optional add-on to Single Trip and Annual Multi Trip policies. The additional premium must be paid and SLI must be shown on your Certificate of Insurance. |
SLI does not cover damage to the rental vehicle itself. It is specifically designed to provide additional protection against third-party claims.
